My crappy camera can't really show the gem-quality of the mineral. It is topaz, a semi-precious stone found usually in granite. My father has been intensely involved in collecting the gem. He spends all weekends in the mountains on topaz hunting. It is a good hobby for him. But, he always urges me to join to get me to carry heavy mining tools like shovel. I seem to have to stay in the mine over this weekend, although a fairly intense typhoon is approaching (it's raining heavily now...).I should have visited the linked mine when I was in the States. It seems well known in Utah.
