
Many assume that orchids are rather rare and precious plants. I must admit that it is largely true. Here is a notable exception,
Spiranthes sinensis var. amoena. They are so common in Japan that you can find them even on lawn patches between skyscrapers.
As the academic name agrees, they have spiral appearance. Their Japanese name literally means ''screw flower''. The photographed one is an albino form of the orchid, a mutant with white flower. They usually have pink flowers in summer.
