According to COBUILD English dictionary, if you say that something is at the end of the rainbow, you mean that people want it but it is almost impossible to obtain or achieve. I didn't know the idiom.

I can tell with 100% confidence that the hawaiian rainbow will win. There is a rainbow on Hawaiian licence plates (you can google if want to see it). This is because rainbows in Hawaii are invincible. My elementary school teacher taught me so. Must be correct.
